Aldosterone helps control sodium and potassium levels in the body. An increase in aldosterone can lead to sodium retention, which causes the body to hold onto more fluid. This increase in fluid volume can elevate blood pressure, contributing to hypertension. Therefore, maintaining balanced aldosterone levels is crucial for regulating blood pressure.

Another important player in the hormonal regulation of blood pressure is cortisol, often referred to as the stress hormone. Produced by the adrenal glands in response to stress, cortisol has several effects on the body that can influence blood pressure. Elevated cortisol levels can cause an increase in blood volume and arterial constriction, resulting in higher blood pressure.
